A New Open Harvest Cookbook- It's Recipe Time!

Back in 1981, members published a collection of recipes and history of the cooperative. A lot has changed since then at Open Harvest, and in the way we cook. We are updating and expanding the Open Harvest cookbook. We are asking members to please contribute your favorite authentic recipes prepared with natural foods. Recipes must be original.

Pick up a recipe form at the store or submit your recipe online. All categories are of interest, including a miscellaneous section for lotions, cleansers, and other household uses for natural products. Recipes that make use of local Nebraska products and seasonal recipes are of particular interest! Contact Sara Moshman at 435-7439 if you have questions or if you'd like to help.

Online Recipe Submission for the New Cookbook

Deadline for submission is January 31, 2009

Recipe Guidelines:

• Please submit your favorite original recipes!
• Please do not use abbreviations for measurements.
• Please list ingredient in order they are used in the recipe. No artificial, colors, flavors or preservatives, please. Indicate if they are chopped, minced, melted, etc.
• Be sure to include accurate package sizes and provide the pan sizes needed.
• Be as precise as possible.
• Baking times should be accurate and give a test for doneness. (e.g., Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until golden. Cool completely, then cover and refrigerate overnight.)
• Indicate whether to cook the recipe covered or not.
• Indicate if you can make it ahead of time and if it can be frozen and/or reheated.
• Indicate the number of servings.

Submission Guidelines:

• Recipes must be original! We cannot accept recipes that are reprinted from other sources. Open Harvest reserves the right to reject recipes if not original, too long, too complicated, or incomplete. Open Harvest may not use all recipes received, depending on the number of submissions and editors may need to edit recipes.
• Name and member number are required. Your name will appear next to your recipe. We would appreciate it if you include your phone and/or email address so that we can contact you if questions. Open Harvest will never release your contact information.
