Member Artists Drawing Party August 2
Submit your Drawings for the Cookbook
by Sarah Bauman, Member-Owner
The Open Harvest Cookbook Committee has been collecting member recipes to publish the new Open Harvest Cookbook. It is shaping up well and I fnd it to be a special project! We are fortunate to have Dika Eckersley as the book designer and April Stevenson publishing the book at Eagle Printing. We are hoping to make this book even more special by including member artwork!
I want to invite you to make an ink drawing for the cookbook! Peggy Gomez is letting us use Tugboat Gallery on Sunday, August 2, 3:00-5:00 p.m., located at 116 N. 14th Street, 2nd foor, above Gomez Art Supply. Elevator entrance: 1410 O Street. RSVP to sarahweilbauman@hotmail.com please!
Members of the committee will be there to answer questions and serve samples from the recipes. April will provide paper. Just bring your favorite ink drawing tool/tools, and draw at that time with us. No need to do soul searching in advance, just come! Peggy will keep the store open if you need to do some shopping and there is free parking on Sunday. If you are caught this summer in a doctor's waiting room or an airport and have your sketchpad and pen to draw, feel free to bring those drawings with you. If you cannot attend this little "draw down" at Tugboat, drop drawings off at Open Harvest. Please note: Attention Jackie Barnhardt.
Preferred format is black ink on white paper. Themes are primarily food, kitchen and dining related. At this time, sections of the book are: cover possibilities (front and back), Open Harvest history, breads/muffns, beverages, appetizers, soups/chowders, entrees (including tofu, tempeh, grains, beans, meat, seafood, cheese and eggs), vegetables, salads, sauces and condiments, desserts, home cleaning and beauty recipes. Final selections will be made by the cookbook committee.
Please forward this invitation to any Open Harvest member that you think might be interested. We don't want to miss anyone who would like to participate!
P.S. All you Foodie Artists: Not all of you have sent recipes. There is still time! Drop them off at the store, or enter them online. Forms are available at both locations.
