Open Harvest on The Learning Channel:Honey We're Killing the Kids!

In February 2007, Open Harvest was filmed for the TV realityprogram "Honey We're Killing the Kids!" with the Bartlettfamily from Beatrice. The family purchased groceries fromthe co-op and learned how to prepare healthy foods withstaff member Jim Larson.

The program offers a startling look at the causes ofAmerica's childhood obesity epidemic and issues a criticalwake-up call for parents. In the series, a nutrition expertshows how everyday choices can have long-term impactson children, and offers both the motivation and the knowhowto help turn these families' lives around. Using stateof-the-art computer imaging and certified assessmentsbased on measurements and statistics, the family gets afrightful image of a possible future of their children. Then,introducing her new guidelines and techniques, the nutritionistworks with parents to reverse course and give theirkids a healthy diet and active lifestyle.
